Spirituality & Dementia Seminar of Hope

Plant City – A special educational program: “Spirituality & Dementia Seminar of Hope” is being offered for FREE to caregivers, parish volunteers, Stephen Ministers, Senior Adult Pastors, Parish Nurses and others interested in learning more about tips and tools for compassionate memory care.

The program is February, 4, 2012, between 9:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., at Hope Lutheran Church, 2001 North Park Road, Plant City. Registration and an informal meet & greet begins at 9:30 a.m. Lunch and snacks provided by Hope Lutheran Church.

Presenting professionals include: Stefanie Thompson, Senior Program Specialist for the Alzheimer’s Association – Florida Gulf Coast Chapter; Dr. Steve Smith, Internal Medicine, Plant City; Mary Jo Williams, M.S., M.Div, Social Worker, Nurses on Call; and Barbara Booth Jarmon, Pastor, Florida Presbyterian Homes, Stephen Ministry Leader. The program will cover such topics as: An overview: Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia, Support for the caregiver: resources available in our community, Communicating with the person with dementia: a spiritual perspective, and Care for the Caregiver: centering prayer and quite reflection. There is scheduled time for questions and answers.
